Pretty pieced pillows

Alright, so I've been a really awful blogger lately. Everyone else had a year-end wrap-up of projects and goals for the next year, but not me. I suck.

I have things to share and I'll get around to them sometime in the coming week, and then you'll understand why I've been a poop-head.

For now, I have this Warehouse Fabrics Inc. post I did on throw pillows, and any minute now I'll have a cute, new garment to show you. So click away on the picture below and join me over there.

The project that traveled 'round the world

I wrote recently about a project that is special to me. It's a piece of partially finished embroidery sent to me from South Africa to complete. I have finished it, and made it into a little pillow.

I finished the embroidery ...

And found a perfect fabric with birds and leaves and lots of colors to accompany it.

I just measured and pieced it as I went, mixed in some solid brown and added blue piping for fun.

I probably could have done a more even job stuffing it, but it'll work. For the back I wanted to add a little interest, so I used scraps of the bird fabric and pieced it with the brown. I like how it came out.

Waste not, want these

I've made a few new things for my Etsy.com store.
I've stepped away from clothes for a few months. I'm taking a lot of design classes right now and will be patternmaking for them, so I'm just trying other stuff right now, like pillows and bags. This is allowing me to use some fabric that would have been wasted (left over from garments). These two are from the fabric I picked up in NYC this summer at Mood Designer Fabrics. That's the place they go to on Project Runway.

Branching out into new territory

As I said before, I'm going to make some other, less size-specific items for my shop.
This is also a good way to use up leftover material.
Tonight's projects:

black eyelet pillow with pink lining and pink piping

Brown brocade bolster with contrasting end pieces

Check It Out, part IV: Happy Bee

Here is part IV of featured Etsy.com sellers. Etsy.com is a place for crafters to sell their stuff. All you will find there (ideally) is handmade stuff. Today we meet Happy Bee.

Oh, Happy Bee. Your stuff is so adorable. And judging from your name, you're a girl after my own heart. But not in a weird way.

Happy Bee is an etsy.com seller who makes the cutest stuff, like little flowery bags and pillows.

Happy Bee is a secretary by day and a crafter by night. She lives in Italy and is married. She makes a lot of her items as gifts for friends and family. I want to be her friend.

Go check out her stuff and support a great crafter! At the same time, you'll look just precious with one of her little bags on your shoulder. Everybody wins.
